AV Automations - What is Automation and why do I need it?

Modified on Wed, 17 Jul at 2:49 AM

The Les Mills Virtual App sends automation commands to projectors using the PJLINK protocol, a common communication method used, using the network to send and receive automation commands. The Virtual App also easily integrates into your club automation control system (Crestron, AMX, Extron etc), supporting both TCP and UDP protocols.  Automation is best implemented by an experienced AV provider, please contact your local Les Mills office for recommendations.

What are the benefits of implementing Automation?

Automation allows unassisted playback of Virtual content, meaning the system operates without needing someone to turn the projector on and off, which can be time consuming and labour intensive.  An Automated system also allows for the automatic lowering of screens, if need be.  If you use an automation control system, there are other features that can be automated, including lights and level of music.  Please discuss your options with an AV provider who is familiar with the Virtual system.

Does Automation work during On Demand slots?

Yes, Automation works for scheduled, On Demand and admin activated playback.  The projector will only turn on during an On Demand slot if a class is played.

Who do I reach out to for Automation support?

The Virtual helpdesk can do background checks on the Virtual App, but please reach out to your AV provider as well as it's essential you speak to someone who knows your specific setup.
